Plastic Surgery in Korea vs. US
In the US, the ideal of beauty is with tanned skin, not necessarily to have a slim body but healthy look body for woman and a muscular, manly man. In East Asian countries, however, white skin is preferable as the stereotypes of black or yellow or tanned skin don't look as good on Asians. Moreover, K-pop has become more recognized all over the world. The appearance of idols have impacted the beauty standards of Korea. More fans gain interest in achieving the look of their favorite stars. Therefore, Asians' views of beauty or Korean in specific are big eyes, small chin, high nose, double eye-lids V-line face. Besides, the surgery cost in the US is super expensive due to labor hours, taxes and regulations; however, in Korea is relatively low and safe with high quality. In the recent years, Korea also has the highest rate of people doing plastic surgery from either local residents or international customers. According to Seoul Touch Up, compared to the world, Korean has the highest plastic surgery boom and it is still growing.
Obviously, Korean won over America when it comes to plastic surgery, especially for Asian customers. Thanks to the Korean wave :)
